The program provides a structured transition‑to‑practice experience, including evidence‑based curriculum, specialized clinical experiences, and dedicated mentorship. Nurses will receive a six‑month induction with optional specialty tracks lasting 12‑18 months. Specialty Tracks Emergency Department (ED) – Rapid assessment, triage, emergency interventions, trauma care, and critical decision‑making. Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – Advanced critical care skills, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and complex medication administration. Behavioral Health – Psychiatric nursing, crisis intervention, therapeutic communication, medication management for mental health conditions, and holistic care. Inpatient Medical‑Surgical – General nursing care, assessment, medication administration, patient education, and care coordination. Labor and Delivery – Maternal‑child nursing, labor support, fetal monitoring, delivery assistance, postpartum care, and newborn assessment. Perioperative Surgical Services – PACU Focus – Post‑anesthesia care, airway management, pain control, monitoring complications, and patient recovery. Perioperative Surgical Services – OR Focus – Operating room nursing, sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, circulating and scrub roles, and intra‑operative patient care. Responsibilities Provide safe, competent, and compassionate patient care under preceptor guidance. Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments per established protocols. Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record. Demonstrate progressive independence in clinical decision‑making throughout the residency. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with the healthcare team. Professional Development Participate in all residency educational sessions, workshops, and seminars. Complete specialty‑specific competency requirements and skill validations. Engage in reflective practice and evidence‑based learning activities. Develop critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills through case studies and simulations. Pursue relevant certifications and continuing education opportunities. Communication & Collaboration Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the care team. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning. Maintain professional behavior and positive working relationships. Personal Protective Equipment Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Education & Credentials High School Diploma/GED required. Diploma from an accredited RN program required. BLS Provider certification within 90 days of hire. Registered Nurse credential from the New York Board of Nursing; English proficiency required.
