Shipping Clerk

Shipping ClerkMetals USA is seeking a Shipping Clerk for our Ambridge, PA facility. Metals USA - Plates & Shapes Division is a solid, growth oriented carbon steel distribution center servicing the defense, commercial construction, road construction and fabrication industries.The Shipping Clerk is responsible for performing shipping duties and processing related paperwork for daily shipment.Responsibilities:Prepares finished goods accurately for shipment according to customer requirements.Coordinates shipments on approved third party logistic company and common outside carriers.Reviews finished goods to ensure that they are tagged and properly prepared for shipping. Prepares shipping documents associated with each truck including bill of lading; prints tags to identify material.Verifies that all shipments are accurate and not damaged prior to departure from the facility.Stores materials and supplies within the warehouse according to company procedures.Manages shipping supplies inventories according to company procedures.Manages finished goods inventory per company policies.Signs for incoming deliveries as required; loads and unloads delivery trailers/trucks by hand or with material handling equipment as needed.Forwards shipping and receiving documentation in a neat and orderly manner.Records shipping and receiving details to the appropriate department on a regular and timely basis.Fills out production paperwork, follows shop system data collection procedures and follows inspection procedures on a daily basis.Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.Notifies management of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions, and or personal injuries.Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a shipping clerk effectively.Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.Performs other related duties as assigned.Physical Demands:Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend.Other Physical Requirements:Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)Steel-toed bootsHard hats with chin straps are required; chin straps must be worn on elevated surfacesProtective eyewearWork Environment:May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.Working inside the warehouse officeModerate to loud noise levelsVibrationOils, dust, fumes and metallic particlesHigh School Graduate or EquivalentMust possess excellent Oral/Written/Reading Communication SkillsBasic math skills are requiredAbility to inspect material for quality conformance through the use of measuring devicesAbility to prioritize and focus while multi-taskingAbility to demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy and confidentiality in all communicationsFunctional Computer Literacy to include Microsoft Products and StelpanMetals USA offers a competitive hourly rate of $19.00 - $21.00 and benefits plus upward mobility professional growth.Metals USA is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse.Metals USA provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability.
