GENERAL SUMMARY

The Program Specialist assists with the overall Community Program to ensure the residents’ lives are enriched by offering a broad range of activities and programs in a variety of settings. These programs should appeal to the varied lifestyles and backgrounds of the residents, while offering choice, fostering independence, promoting individuality, and nurturing the spirit of each individual.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Conduct individual, small group, and large group programs Attend outings with the residents Celebrate resident events and accomplishments such as birthdays and anniversaries Engage residents in a variety of activities including intellectual, cognitive, physical, spiritual, social, recreational, creative, reminiscence, life work, cultural, outdoor/nature, inter‑generational, gender‑specific, educational, and memory‑impairment programs Assist with resident meal service Assist with the development of the Community Program calendar and newsletter Recommend and help order supplies needed for programs Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining a quality assurance program for the Community Program department Ensure resident rooms and common areas are clean and safe at all times Ensure proper use of equipment and supplies and uphold cleaning and safety standards Attend educational classes, on‑the‑job training programs, and orientation as scheduled or requested Respond promptly to requests from residents, families, and guests Wear company uniform and be resident‑ready at all times Perform other related essential duties as assigned

Communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources, and outside contacts Make independent decisions Communicate in a warm, friendly, and caring manner Possess a passion for working with and around senior citizens Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Graduate or equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience in a memory care environment preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Stand or walk 75% of the day Drive Concentrate with frequent interruptions Work under stress and in emergency situations Work under conditions requiring sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping Talk and hear effectively to convey instructions and information Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT Work in all areas of the community Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants, cleaning chemicals, and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and other conditions Use personal protective equipment and supplies when needed to prevent burns, falls, and infection Personal protective equipment includes infection control kit, rubber gloves, and non‑slip shoes Subject to infectious diseases, substances, and odors #J-18808-Ljbffr Thepelicanlanding
