General Labor Truss Assembler is a skilled production worker in the lumber and construction supply industry, responsible for manufacturing prefabricated roof and floor trusses used in residential and commercial building projects. Role Overview The truss assembler works in a manufacturing environment, interpreting technical blueprints and shop drawings to assemble pre-cut lumber and metal connector plates into structurally sound frameworks. The role is part of a production team, requiring attention to safety, quality, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Interpret and follow detailed blueprints, shop drawings, and production orders to ensure trusses meet exact specifications. Lay out and position pre-cut lumber and components on assembly tables or jigs according to design plans Secure and press metal connector plates (gussets) at joints using hammers and hydraulic presses or gantry roller systems. Operate tools such as pneumatic nail guns, staple guns, hammers, measuring tapes, and other hand/power tools. Perform quality checks to verify dimensions, plate placement, and structural integrity. Identify and report defective or warped materials to supervisors Lift, move, and stack trusses, often with assistance or lifting equipment, and prepare them for storage or shipment Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety regulations. Required Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in using hand and power tools. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Knowledge of building codes and structural standards. Experience with truss assembly (preferred). Physical ability to lift up to 50100 lbs, work standing for long periods, and operate in varying weather conditions SeasonalJobs.dol.gov+1. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Typical Work Environment Fast-paced manufacturing floor in a lumber or construction supply company. Exposure to wood, metal, and machinery; occasional outdoor or hot conditions Seasonal. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols. Bilingual Preferred!!!!!
