Payroll Manager

Payroll Manager – Chicago, IL (Hybrid) Base pay range: $85,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for all firm employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain and process payroll through UKG, ensuring accurate data input, pay calculations, tax withholdings, and deductions. Oversee time‑keeping systems, review employee time submissions, and resolve discrepancies. Coordinate with HR and Finance departments to ensure alignment on payroll‑related activities, including new hires, terminations, benefits, and compensation changes. Prepare and analyze payroll‑related and other regulatory reports as required. Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, ensuring timely and professional resolution. Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee data. Support year‑end processes including W-2s and annual audits. Stay up to date on changes in payroll laws and regulations relevant to the legal industry. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field preferred. 5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a professional services environment. Proficiency in UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) is required. Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and reporting standards. Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
