Lab Technician IV - Bacteriology

Piper Companies is seeking a Lab Technician IV – Bacteriology to join a government-focused infectious disease research program for a contract‑to‑hire position located onsite in Fort Detrick, MD. The Lab Technician IV – Bacteriology will support microbiology and molecular biology initiatives within a high‑containment laboratory environment focused on biodefense and medical countermeasure development. Responsibilities Conduct bacteriology‑based experiments, including culture, isolation, and characterization of bacterial organisms in controlled lab settings Execute molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, and cloning‑related activities Support cell culture workflows and biochemical assays, including protein analysis and cell viability testing Assist with research studies involving animal models, including preparation, dosing, sample collection, and documentation Maintain laboratory operations by managing supplies, equipment upkeep, safety compliance, and accurate data tracking Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences field Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on laboratory experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or infectious disease research Working knowledge of PCR, electrophoresis, DNA prep, and microbial culture techniques Willingness to work with animal models and within BSL‑2/BSL‑3 laboratory environments Ability to obtain a Secret clearance and meet federal program requirements Compensation Salary Range: $32-$36/hr (USD) Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) offered upon conversion. #J-18808-Ljbffr Piper Companies
