Registered Nurse (RN) - Adult Transitions

This is a backfill opportunity for a Registered Nurse specializing in Adult Transitions. The role is focused on providing care to adult patients in various psychiatric units.

Unit Information

Unit Types: Adolescent (ages 12-18), Serenity (lower acuity adult), ITU (higher acuity adult), SRAD (senior lifestyle), and VINE (lower acuity adult).

Number of Beds: Adolescent - 18, Serenity - 24, ITU - 32, SRAD - 16, VINE - 9.

Patient Ratios: Nurses 8 to 1, Mental Health Technicians 12 to 1.

Documentation System: Meditech.

Scheduling Requirements

The position requires coverage for three 12-hour shifts each day, seven days a week, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract.

Required Qualifications

Certifications: BLS and CPI.

Skills:

• Ability to assess patients' mental health status, including recognition of psychiatric disorders and behavior issues.
• Care Planning: Development of individualized care plans based on patient needs.
• Medication Management: Administration of psychiatric medications and monitoring for side effects.
• Crisis Intervention: Immediate support for patients in crisis, including de-escalation techniques.
• Therapeutic Communication: Building trust with patients through effective communication and empathy.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the following:

• Monitoring patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and medication effects.
• Implementing individualized care and evaluating patient outcomes.
• Working collaboratively within a team to enhance the patient care experience.

Dress Code

Nurses are required to wear blue uniforms. Mental Health Technicians wear green or black uniforms.
