Shift Type: Night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend, holiday rotation

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $85-  $87.50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert care in a combined Labor and Delivery, Well-Baby Nursery and Postpartum unit
• Manage 30 to 40 deliveries per month and confidently run a delivery on your own
• Monitor both mom and baby using Cerner and the Fetal Link monitoring system
• Provide couplet care with postpartum ratios of 1 to 4, following AWHONN guidelines
• Support high risk deliveries at 35 weeks and above, twins, and newborns going through withdrawal protocols
• Float between the labor and postpartum sides of the unit as patient needs shift
• Collaborate with a strong team of 4 OB/GYNs, 2 midwives and 24/7 hospitalist support
• Jump in with a teamwork-first mindset and help wherever the unit needs you most

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license, active and ready to submit
• At least 3 years of Labor and Delivery and Postpartum experience, both are a must
• BLS certification, we will need this current
• ACLS certification to round out your acute care skills
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certification
• BSN is welcome but not required, your experience is what matters most
• Comfort running and managing a delivery independently and a true team player at heart

Education

• Floating: float to medsurg or CCU rarely & only if desired. Will have to work both L&D & PP on unit
• Floor specific orientation: 2-3 days
• Common diagnosis / Types of patients: on PP side they may occasionally get a post-op gyn surgery, also will see high risk deliveries, 35 weeks and above, drug babies that go through withdrawal protocol, twin deliveries
• Additional Notes: must be comfortable running and managing delivery on own, must be teamwork oriented, candidates MUST have postpartum and L&D experience, they will not have to scrub in for c-sections, OR will cover this, they do about 30-40 deliveries per month

• Strong Labor and Delivery and Postpartum clinical skills
• Well-Baby Nursery care and newborn assessment
• Advanced fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Knowledge of AWHONN staffing and care guidelines
• Comfort with high risk deliveries, twin deliveries and withdrawal protocols
• Cerner charting experience, or a quick learner ready to pick it up
• NCC Certified Inpatient OB (RNC-OB) certification is a nice bonus
• Sharp critical thinking and calm decision making in fast moving moments
