Full Time Apprentice Meatcutter

Responsibilities Responsible for efficiently cutting and processing the complete variety of meat products to achieve maximum yield and gross profit according to Meat Standards, cleaning work areas, providing customer service unloading stock, and reloading salvage. Qualifications Personal Skills : Exceptional interpersonal skills. Willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training and to work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales. Language Skills : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other associates who only speak English. Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Complete company training including but not limited to: new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge. Physical Demands : The associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell. Occasional climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and reach 6-72 inches. Frequent lifting up to 100 pounds and reach 6-72 inches. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color, and depth perception. Work Environment : Constant work in a cool environment (34-36°F) with wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold. Noise level usually moderate to loud. Age Requirement : All warehouse associates must be 18 years of age or older. Compensation Pay Transparency: Harris Teeter reasonably expects to pay between $18.80/hour and $25.00/hour for this role as a newly hired associate. Pay may depend on previous experience and skill sets of the applicant. You will be eligible for Harris Teeter’s group benefit plans that pertain to your position upon the completion of applicable waiting periods.
