About the Position

Job Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening.
• Anticipate equipment, instrumentation, and supply needs before each procedure.
• Verify that all surgical equipment is functioning properly before use.
• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and air-powered equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
• Scrub surgical procedures while understanding the specific techniques and requirements of individual surgeons.
• Independently scrub specialty procedures, including sports medicine and trauma, without the presence of a sales representative.
• Assist the RN with operative charges and accurately record hardware used during procedures.
• Collect specimens and cultures while verifying the source and correct tissue identification with the surgeon.
• Maintain proper sterile technique and follow infection-control and patient-safety standards.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure procedures are performed safely and efficiently.

Requirements

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum 1 year of operating room experience as a Surgical Technician OR completion of Surgical Technician training required.
• Surgical Technician certification or eligibility for certification preferred.
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required.
• Ability to scrub a variety of surgical procedures, including specialty cases.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate surgical team needs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively and thoroughly in a fast-paced surgical environment.
