District Support Pharmacist Part Time

Job Purpose District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy. DSPs serve as a role model, support scheduling, oversee pharmacy operations, and ensure high-quality patient care in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader. Responsibilities Manage and improve patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel across the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled and act as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team and following safety guardrails. Assume day‑to‑day Pharmacy Manager duties when serving as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Enhance patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team, resolving insurance and medication issues, and providing compassionate care. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning immunization procedures. Manage pharmacy inventory, focusing on cold chain products, and guide the team in inventory best practices. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required training, CMEs, and continuous learning. Deliver pharmacist‑led clinical care services such as testing and prescribing where permissible, promoting holistic care. Comply with federal, state, and company policies, including controlled substance dispensing, recordkeeping, and patient privacy. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as needed. Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within the designated timeframe. Attention and Focus Concentrate on tasks over time and pivot quickly between tasks. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively help people in a friendly manner. Notice and respond appropriately to patient reactions. Communication Skills Use and understand verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues. Practice active listening, asking questions when needed and avoiding inappropriate interruptions. Mathematical Reasoning Use math to solve dispensing problems, such as calculating total tablets, day’s supply, and bottle requirements. Problem Resolution Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action when multiple options exist. Physical Demands Remain mobile and upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items up to 20 lbs with frequent lifting up to 10 lbs. Reach overhead; use fingers and arms for repetitive tasks. Adjust machines precisely and perform detailed visual inspections. Perform additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
