Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) Upfitter

The Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) Upfitter is responsible for preparing, installing, and configuring equipment in law enforcement vehicles. This position ensures all emergency equipment, electronics, lighting, communication systems, and accessories are installed according to agency specifications and safety standards before vehicles are delivered to customers.

Responsibilities
  • Install emergency lighting systems, sirens, control modules, and warning equipment.
  • Install police vehicle partitions, prisoner transport systems, weapon mounts, consoles, and storage solutions.
  • Wire and integrate communication systems, radios, mobile data terminals, cameras, and related technology.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and installation instructions.
  • Mount and secure equipment while maintaining vehicle integrity and safety standards.
  • Test all installed equipment to ensure proper functionality and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, repairs, and inventory usage.
  • Assist with vehicle inspections and quality control reviews before delivery.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with management, vendors, and law enforcement customers regarding vehicle build requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous automotive, electrical, fleet, emergency vehicle, or upfitting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems and automotive wiring.
  • Ability to read wiring schematics and technical diagrams.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass background and motor vehicle record checks.
