Job Description

Job Description

About Us
Rising Stars ABA is a nonprofit providing in-home and community-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Western Connecticut. We’re a small, mission-driven team where you’ll work closely with your supervising BCBA and get to know your clients and families well.

Job Overview

Looking for a flexible second job that puts your RBT credential to work? Rising Stars ABA is hiring a part-time Registered Behavior Technician for after-school and optional weekend hours (10–20 hours per week). This role is ideal for school-based RBTs, paraprofessionals, or anyone with a daytime job who wants meaningful extra income working 1:1 with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Sessions take place in the client’s home, helping children build independence, communication, social skills, and real-world confidence. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), you will implement individualized treatment plans, teach functional skills, and collect accurate session data.

This is a part-time position: 2-4 hours per day, 5 days a week. This position is ideal for someone seeking an additional weekly paycheck.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct 1:1 Therapy: Implement skill acquisition programs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as written by the supervising BCBA, using evidence-based ABA techniques (DTT, NET, prompting, shaping, reinforcement).

• Community Integration: Support clients during community outings (parks, stores, recreational activities) to practice social and adaptive skills in real-world settings.

• Daily Living Skills: Teach and support activities of daily living (ADLs), self-care, communication, and functional routines at home.

• Data Collection: Accurately collect and record data every session and complete session notes on time.

• Behavior Reduction: Apply proactive strategies and reinforcement-based interventions to reduce challenging behavior and build replacement skills.

• Caregiver Collaboration: Communicate professionally with caregivers and model strategies to support consistency across settings.

• Supervision: Participate in ongoing BCBA supervision and implement feedback, in line with BACB RBT supervision requirements.

• Ethics & Compliance: Follow the BACB RBT Ethics Code and maintain client confidentiality and records in compliance with HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Active RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), in good standing; candidates who have completed the 40-hour RBT training and are scheduled to sit for the exam are encouraged to apply

• High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework in psychology, education, or a related field a plus)

• Experience working with children with ASD or other developmental disabilities

• Comfort and confidence supporting clients in public and community settings

• Strong communication, patience, empathy, and professional boundaries

• Reliable personal transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance

• Ability to pass a background check

Schedule

• Part-time, 10–20 hours per week

• Primary hours: weekday after-school (typically 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM)

• Optional weekend shifts based on your availability and client needs

Why work with us

• Steady extra income with a set after-school schedule

• Small caseload and consistent clients, with a predictable schedule

Pay & Benefits

• $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience

• Paid sick leave (accrues from day one)

• Professional development assistance

• Ongoing BCBA supervision and clinical mentorship

Work Location: In person – client homes and community settings in Bridgeport or Waterbury.
