CHILD PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATOR - 60070931 Requisition No: 876782. Agency: Children and Families. Position Number: 60070931. Salary: $50,000 annually / $1,923 bi‑weekly. What you will do Conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or special conditions for children. Collect information through observation and interviews with the child, parents, relatives, and neighbors. Assess danger threats, child vulnerabilities and caregiver protective capacities to determine whether a child is safe. Arrange emergency placement for any child that cannot safely remain in their home. Notify state attorney, law enforcement and child protection teams. Provide families with service linkages to agency and community resources. Conduct initial/ongoing child present and impending danger assessments. Report indications of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment to the Florida Abuse Hotline. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent plus four years of law‑enforcement experience or active military service (honorably discharged or currently serving honorably). Associate degree or 60+ credit hours plus two years of professional work experience in any of the following roles (examples are not exhaustive): Guardian Ad Litem, Family Support Worker, Group Home Worker, Teacher / Teacher’s Assistant / Aide, Therapeutic Assistant, Family Intervention Specialist, Home Health Aide / CNA, Healthcare Practitioner (LPN, RN), Nursing Facility Assistant, Paramedic / EMT, Dispatcher, Security / Safety Officer, Emergency Management Deputy / Director, Investigator (sworn/non‑sworn) for a government entity, or other high‑pressure, high‑stress welfare, education, first responder, emergency management or medical professional jobs. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is acceptable and preferred for a social work or related field. Must obtain Florida Child Protective Investigator Certification within 12 months after provisional certification and maintain certification thereafter. Valid driver license and possession of an operational private vehicle with proof of registration and insurance. Ability to attend an 8‑12 week mandatory training course scheduled during day, weekend, or evening hours. Additional Requirements Position requires night, weekend, holiday, and emergency work; may involve exposure to hazardous field conditions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Managing time; assessing, planning, intervening, evaluating, documenting, engaging, and teaming; taking appropriate actions related to domestic violence, mental health, and/or substance abuse; establishing effective relationships with colleagues; professional competencies; physical agility tasks including ambulating on varied terrain, assisting in evacuations, carrying up to 30 pounds, and operating a vehicle during both day and night.
