Job Title

RN (Registered Nurse) – ICU Float Pool

Location

Phoenix, AZ | Acute Care / Level I Trauma Center

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7PM–7:30AM) | Full-Time | Onsite | 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period (Saturday & Sunday) | Holiday shifts required based on unit needs | No call required; standby response time of 30 minutes if placed on low-census standby

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across ICU float cluster units including medical/surgical/trauma ICU, cardiothoracic ICU (including lung transplant and ECMO patients), and neuro ICU, with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio; may also float to MedSurg/Tele units at a 1:4 ratio
• Manage all critical drips and operate all types of respiratory support equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen; must be able to read telemetry strips using GE equipment
• Float independently among all assigned ICU areas as well as MedSurg/Tele units, including sister campuses; floating is a requirement of this role and cannot be refused
• Complete all patient reports at the bedside and perform a quality two-person skin assessment within the first four hours of each shift
• Pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab assessment (pass/fail) covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile field technique; also complete educational modules on lifts, restraints, and wound care
• Pass an Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam prior to contract start with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
• Level I Trauma experience is required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must demonstrate competency in sterile field technique, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes
• Must be able to function independently when floated to unfamiliar units and accept floating assignments without refusal
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Teaching hospital experience preferred given the complexity and high acuity of the patient population
• Experience with ECMO and/or lung transplant patients (cardiothoracic ICU background)
• Neuro ICU experience and NIHSS certification preferred but not required
• Comfort using GroupMe or similar mobile communication platforms for receiving assignments
