Clinical Lab AssistantThe Clinical Lab Assistant performs a variety of technical and non-technical job functions related to patient specimens and testing.Department: LaboratoryHours: Part-timeRequired: Associates DegreePay: Based on experience, starting at $18.68ResponsibilitiesAble to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment.Assesses all specimens for appropriate labeling, specimen type and shipping conditions.Calibrates and performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instrumentation according to laboratory protocols.Communicates information with internal and external customers as appropriate in an accurate, timely, effective and professional manner.Competently performs all required functions in laboratory information software systems.Maintain laboratory supply inventory, notifying appropriate laboratory staff when supplies are below established par levels.Notifies appropriate staff members of any calibration or equipment failures which cannot be immediately resolved.Performs laboratory testing, which may include high complexity testing, as assigned and according to established protocols.Performs patient testing, associated Quality Control and instrument maintenance in the assigned sections of the clinical laboratory. Sections include: Microbiology, Molecular, Chemistry, Hematology, Urology, Coagulation, Serology, and Blood Bank.Performs Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures.Receives and processes incoming lab specimens as appropriate. Specimen types include but are not limited to blood, urine, stool, and body fluids.Recognizes test result or instrument function problems that require additional troubleshooting, performs troubleshooting or seeks additional assistance as appropriate.Reports any values outside of acceptable ranges that cannot be resolved to the appropriate laboratory staff member.Successfully participates in all accreditation and other proficiency testing and performance competencies.RequirementsAA (Required), AS (Required)Estimated Compensation Range $18.68 - $28.95Pay based on experience
