Advanced Clinical Social Worker (37.5 Hour) (Hybrid)

Advanced Clinical Social Worker – Danbury, CT Full-time position (37.5 hours per week). First shift, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Position Overview The State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) seeks an Advanced Clinical Social Worker to provide highly skilled clinical social work treatment and leadership services within a behavioral health program. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team and may involve complex case assignments across one or more locations. Key Responsibilities Provide direct clinical social work treatment and/or substance abuse services to clients with complex psychological and social problems, including individual, family, and group treatment. Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and develop measurable treatment objectives. Provide individual field work instruction and/or clinical supervision, including instruction on psychosocial assessments and current diagnostic categories. Lead consultation with other mental health providers to improve service delivery and identify unmet needs. Offer clinical supervision to Licensed Master Social Workers. Assist in resolving administrative, personnel, and clinical issues. Develop data for statistical and planning systems; prepare administrative reports and suggest operational policies. Oversee implementation of individual client treatment and service plans. Provide administrative oversight of research projects when assigned. Lead or support program components such as crisis intervention teams, inpatient treatment teams, case management teams, psychoeducational services, psychosocial rehabilitation, and forensic services. Conduct forensic evaluations and provide expert testimony to courts. Represent the program or agency during licensing and certification inspections. Maintain liaison relationships with other community agencies and resources. Offer in‑service educational presentations on mental health resources and access methods. Chair facility or community‑based committees that develop policies for psychiatrically disabled individuals. Present information on mental illness and mental health services to community groups. Perform related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Extensive knowledge of human behavior theories, current diagnostic categories of mental illness, and substance abuse issues. Proficiency in addressing social, cultural, economic, political, religious, medical, psychological, and legal influences on clients and service systems. Familiarity with statutes, regulations, and standards governing mental health services and state practice standards for licensed clinical social workers. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong administrative capabilities. Ability to independently apply evidence‑based treatment modalities, including behavioral, cognitive, crisis intervention, and psychosocial rehabilitation approaches. Skill in integrating theory and case material to devise comprehensive treatment and service plans for difficult or complex cases. Leadership experience leading task groups such as treatment teams and agency committees. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of experience as a licensed clinical social worker. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing direct clinical social work treatment using evidence‑based practices for individuals with substance use disorders. Experience implementing evidence‑based practice within a multidisciplinary clinical team. Experience assessing children, young adults, and families using validated tools with a focus on racial justice. Special Requirements Maintains a license to practice clinical social work in accordance with Sec. 20‑195 (m‑z) of the Connecticut General Statutes. Maintains eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a‑7b(f). May be required to have knowledge of sign language or communication ability with deaf and hearing‑impaired individuals in designated positions. May be required to have ability in Spanish oral and written communication in designated positions. May be required to travel.
