Foster Thrift is seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated full-time Donation Processor to join our team. This position is scheduled for approximately 35 hours per week, with additional hours as needed, and requires availability to work Saturdays.

The Donation Processor plays an important role in keeping our thrift store running efficiently by receiving, sorting, evaluating, pricing, and preparing donated merchandise for the sales floor. This position also assists with retail operations as needed, including cashiering, cleaning, organizing merchandise, and setting up displays.

We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, productive, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to jump in wherever needed. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

As a Donation Processor, you will:

• Receive, sort, evaluate, price, and prepare donated merchandise for the sales floor.
• Welcome and assist donors in a friendly, professional, and appreciative manner.
• Help unload donations and provide donation receipts when needed.
• Follow established guidelines for accepting donations, including identifying prohibited items.
• Recognize quality merchandise and seek guidance when additional pricing support is needed.
• Meet daily and weekly processing and production goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized donation receiving and processing area.
• Keep your individual work station clean and organized.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, donors, and customers.
• Use online resources when needed to help determine the value of donated merchandise.
• Support a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.
• Assist on the retail floor as needed, including cashiering, cleaning, organizing merchandise, and setting up displays.
• Share Foster Thrift's mission and story with donors and community members.
• Follow Foster First and Foster Thrift policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position averaging approximately 35 hours per week, with additional hours as needed.

Candidates must be available to work Saturdays and should have flexibility based on store and staffing needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent credential.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Provide proof of auto insurance upon hire and annually while employed.
• Be able to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing to a team.
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced and physically active environment.

One year of retail experience is preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

This is an active, hands-on position that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, sorting, cleaning, and organizing throughout the workday.

Candidates must be able to:

• Stand for extended periods, including up to 100% of the workday.
• Walk for up to approximately 75% of the workday.
• Frequently use hands and arms to lift, sort, organize, price, and move merchandise.
• Frequently bend, reach, and perform other physical tasks.
• Safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Perform moderate physical activity throughout the workday.

Depending on store operations, work may occasionally take place in warehouse-style areas or locations with some outdoor exposure.

VISION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires sufficient vision to safely evaluate, sort, price, organize, and move merchandise, including:

• Close and distance vision
• Color recognition
• Peripheral vision
• Depth perception
• Ability to adjust focus

ABOUT FOSTER THRIFT

Foster Thrift is a division of Foster First, a nonprofit Child Placing Agency that provides foster care services to children and families.

Foster Thrift opened its doors in Kennewick on March 17, 2022, with two important goals: to help provide financial support for Foster First's foster care programs and to increase community awareness about the ongoing need for foster families.

Through our store, we have the opportunity to connect community members who are interested in becoming foster parents with Foster First's licensing team and help them learn more about the foster parent licensing process.
