Handyman Technician / General Maintenance Contractor

Pay: Starting at $25.00/hour, with opportunity to increase up to $30.00/hour
Hours: Approximately 30–40 hours per week based on available projects
Schedule: Flexible / jobs available throughout the week
Pay Schedule: Weekly on Fridays
Additional Compensation: Approved gas/work-expense assistance may be issued on Sundays or Mondays
Large Projects: Paid based on approved project/bid budget is currently hiring experienced and dependable handyman technicians to complete residential and property-maintenance projects for our customers.

We are looking for individuals who can work independently, communicate professionally with customers, show up on time, and complete quality work.

Work opportunities may range from small handyman service calls to larger remodeling and renovation projects.

Types of Jobs

Our technicians may receive jobs involving:

• Drywall repair and installation
• Drywall patching and finishing
• Interior and exterior painting
• Home remodeling
• Bathroom remodeling
• Concrete repairs and installation
• Furniture assembly
• Bed, desk, cabinet, shelf, and furniture assembly
• Door repairs
• Interior and exterior door installation
• Door frame and jamb repairs
• Lock and hardware installation
• Trim and molding
• Carpentry repairs
• Flooring repairs and installation
• Caulking and weatherproofing
• Fixture installation
• Light plumbing repairs
• Light electrical/fixture-related handyman work when legally permitted
• Property maintenance
• General residential repairs
• Other handyman and remodeling projects

Compensation

Starting pay is $25 per hour for regular handyman assignments.

Experienced and high-performing technicians may earn up to $30 per hour based on:

• Experience
• Skill level
• Quality of work
• Reliability
• Customer satisfaction
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to complete larger projects

Larger remodeling, renovation, concrete, painting, flooring, door installation, and multi-day projects may be paid on a project/budget basis instead of hourly .

The project amount will be communicated before work begins.

Payment

Regular payments are processed weekly on Fridays .

Depending on the assignment, payment may be made through:

• Direct deposit
• Zelle
• Venmo
• Cash App
• Other approved payment methods

Certain assignments may qualify for same-day or next-day payment when approved.

Approved gas or work-related expense assistance may also be provided separately, generally on Sunday or Monday .

Materials

Customers are generally responsible for the cost of materials.

If you arrive at a project and the customer does not have the correct materials, ask the customer whether they would like you to go to Home Depot or Lowe’s to purchase what is needed.

The customer must cover the cost of approved materials.

Technicians should not use their personal money to purchase customer materials unless specifically authorized.

Required Job Procedures

Arrival

When you arrive at the customer's property, you must call immediately .

Your work time begins when you arrive at the customer's property and check in with the Company.

Reliable Repairs maintains a daily timesheet based on verified job arrival and completion times.

Before Starting

Before beginning work:

• Speak with the customer.
• Ask exactly what they need completed.
• Review the entire requested scope.
• Make sure you understand the assignment.
• Contact Reliable Repairs if the customer requests additional work that was not originally scheduled.

During the Job

Complete all work professionally and protect the customer's property.

If additional materials are needed, communicate with the customer and Reliable Repairs before purchasing anything.

Never make unauthorized changes to the customer's price.

Completion

When the project is complete:

• Review the completed work with the customer.
• Ask the customer if everything requested has been completed.
• Call Reliable Repairs immediately.
• Have the customer contact Reliable Repairs to confirm completion when requested.
• Provide a detailed report of everything completed.
• Provide photos when requested.

Your work clock ends when the assigned work is finished and the required completion/check-out process has been completed.

Customer Payment Rule

Technicians must never collect job payments directly from customers unless specifically authorized by management.

A customer may voluntarily give the technician a personal tip .

All other project payments must go through Reliable Repairs.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Handyman or construction experience
• Reliable transportation
• Their own basic handyman tools
• Working cell phone
• Ability to travel to customer properties
• Professional communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to follow job instructions
• Dependable attendance
• Ability to provide before/after photos and job reports
• Ability to safely complete the projects they accept

Experience in multiple trades is strongly preferred.

Licensed, Bonded & Insured Contractors

You are not required to be licensed, bonded, or insured to apply for all available handyman opportunities with Reliable Repairs.

However, if you currently hold any contractor license, trade license, business license, bonding, or liability insurance , please let us know during onboarding and provide documentation if requested.

Being licensed, bonded, and/or insured may qualify you for additional work opportunities, larger projects, higher-budget jobs, specialized assignments, and projects that require specific licensing or insurance.

Please also let us know about any certifications or trade qualifications you currently hold.

Required Onboarding Documents

Before being assigned customer projects, selected workers must complete the Reliable Repairs onboarding process.

Required information may include:

• Valid government-issued photo identification
• Valid driver's license when driving to assignments
• Clear driver's-license photo/copy
• Completed W-9 or applicable employment tax documents
• Social Security Number or other required taxpayer identification information
• Current phone number and contact information
• Any contractor licenses, certifications, bonding, or insurance information, if applicable
• Additional verification documents when required

Work Avalibility

Reliable Repairs generally has approximately 30–40 hours of work opportunities per week , depending on customer demand, your location, availability, experience, and skill set.

Hours are not guaranteed and may vary from week to week.
