Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist

• Accept and dispense prescription medications
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
• Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law
• Verify that prescribed medicines are suitable for patients
• Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients
• Advise patients about medications, including administration and potential reactions
• Provide consultation on storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
• Offer services such as smoking cessation and blood pressure management
• Educate on proper handling of medical devices
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions
• Supervise pharmacy staff
• Maintain pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory
• Identify and communicate patient drug-related problems with healthcare practitioners

Requirements of the Pharmacist

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree
• Licensed by the state pharmacy board
