Job Duties Assists the physician with adult and pediatric (location specific) cardiac catheterizations including transluminal coronary angioplasty and stenting, rotational atherectomy, temporary pacemaker insertion, pericardiocentesis, myocardial biopsy, Swan‑Ganz catheter insertion, mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, Impella, Protek Duo), percutaneous valvuloplasty, percutaneous valve implantation/repair, peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures. Practice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setup of instrument table. Responsible for direct care of patient during procedure as well as management of hemostasis during and post procedure. Ensures correct order obtained, patient properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history corroborated and documented while respecting confidentiality. Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable). Prepares and/or administers medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality; verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post‑processing of data if applicable. Educates and monitors students and other health care providers. Assistlés licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional cardiology procedures. Records, monitors, and assesses hemodynamic data collected during procedures. Maintains intra‑arterial access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Panning the procedure table during image production. Performs manual hemostasis during and after procedure. Operates and ensures the quality control of hemodynamic recording devices, cardiac stimulator, oxygen consumption equipment, and blood analysis equipment. Maintains and removes peripherally inserted central catheters as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Initiates ACLS protocols as required for cardiac roles. Participates, as necessary, with ongoing clinical research trials pertinent to the electrophysiology laboratory. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, or allied health program. RCIS certification within 3 years of employment. BLS certification within 6 months of hire. ACLS certification within 6 months of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months of hire (Geisinger Medical Center campus only). Preferred Backgrounds Radiologic technologist with active ARRT certification. Respiratory therapist with at least two (2) years of experience. Certified surgical technologist with at least two (2) years of experience. Position Details Shifts: Monday – Friday, 7 or 7:30 am start times, 8‑hour shifts.
