The New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranches is seeking compassionate, dependable married couples to become Houseparents / Associate Houseparents for youth in our residential program. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to provide stability, structure, mentorship, and hope to kids who need positive role models the most. What We Offer Starting salary: $44,000–$48,000 per couple DOE FREE housing + paid utilities + meals Medical coverage & life insurance 4 weeks paid vacation Signing bonus Relocation assistance provided Organization vehicle use while working Housing typically includes: 2–3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms Living room & kitchen Up to 2 pets allowed with deposit Who We’re Looking For We are searching for couples who: Want meaningful, purpose-driven work Are willing to relocate to New Mexico Have no more than two children currently living at home Can model healthy behaviors, values, communication, and consistency Are willing to support youth from difficult or traumatic backgrounds Believe in continued personal growth, teamwork, and learning You do not need to be perfect — just caring, resilient, and committed. What Houseparent Couples Do Houseparents help create a safe, structured home environment while teaching practical life skills and healthy routines. Daily responsibilities may include: Mentoring and supervising youth Teaching life skills such as cooking, laundry, cleaning, budgeting, punctuality, and communication Preparing meals and maintaining household organization Supporting educational goals and routines Transporting youth to school, appointments, activities, and events Reinforcing positive behavior and healthy relationships Assisting with medications and minor illnesses/injuries Completing daily electronic documentation and reports Collaborating closely with treatment teams and staff Encouraging recreational activities, work ethic, and personal growth Minimum Requirements GED or High School Diploma Valid driver’s license Clean driving record Ability to pass a background check Self-motivated and dependable Why Families Choose This Role Many couples are looking for work that feels meaningful instead of repetitive. Responsibilities: • Demonstrate and coach residents through basic skills such as room organization, cleaning, work ethic, punctuality, recreational activities, manners, cooking, laundry and clothing care, time management, communication skills, relationship building, conflict resolution, financial management, etc. • Prepare breakfast, with resident assistance, each morning, as well as three meals per day on weekends and non-school days, maintain an atmosphere of organization in the cottage, and demonstrate an aptitude for planning and managing daily activities • Assist with resident educational needs • Maintain a schedule for routine medications as needed • Care for residents with minor illnesses or injuries • Attend church activities with the residents and answer questions about faith, as they arise • Transport residents to activities/appointments in organization vehicles • Supervise residents in a variety of settings and activities • Teach and manage cottage projects and vocational training projects • Communicate and collaborate with team members • Produce quality electronic reports daily • Perform minor repairs/maintenance of housing, vehicles, and equipment • Reinforce positive discipline and behavioral expectations • Use common-sense, daily life, and teaching techniques - to encourage residents in behavioral and relationship improvements • Use healthy communication skills which provide effective interactions with peers and campus visitors • Provide feedback to the team/family members about the resident's activities and interactions with others Qualifications: • GED/High School diploma • Valid driver's license and clean driving record • Ability to be cleared on a background check • Self-motivated • Models and lives through integrity • Observational • Good communication • Writing skills Compensation: $44,000 - $48,000 per couple
