Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Must-Have: - Experience in Labor and Delivery - Ability to titrate drips, including Pitocin and Insulin - Experience with couplet care post-recovery Description: The position involves working in a Labor and Delivery unit. Responsible for the care of patients experiencing labor and various obstetric conditions. Common diagnoses include labor, preeclampsia, hypertension, obesity, gestational diabetes, and preterm labor. Stabilization of newborns after birth is expected. Nurses will also assist with gynecological procedures, including hysterectomies. Charge nurse support is available. Support staff includes unit secretaries and CNAs for clerical duties and assistance. OB hospitalists are available in-house 24/7, with pediatricians available nearby. Anesthesia coverage is provided during the day shift, with rapid access available during off-hours. Nurses have access to remote monitoring capabilities. The unit follows self-scheduling practices, with additional on-call requirements to cover absences. Weekend and holiday shifts are shared among the staff, with expectations for rotations. Floating to other units may occur only in critical situations, without full patient assignment. Department-specific orientation is provided on-site. Candidates with previous experience in any associated facilities must disclose that information during the application process.
