Lead Data Platform Engineer

Salary: $122,100 - 162,800 per year Requirements:

• We need 10+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, cloud engineering, or a closely related area.
• We require a bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• We look for experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and modern data platforms.
• We need advanced SQL and Python skills for large-scale data processing and performance tuning.
• We require hands-on experience with Azure Databricks administration, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Data Factory.
• We look for experience implementing cloud security, governance, identity and access management, and compliance controls.
• We need a proven track record of leading complex technical initiatives and shaping architectural decisions across multiple teams.
• We require strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
• We prefer familiarity with Agile delivery methods, including Scrum and Kanban.
• We prefer experience with cloud data, analytics, AI, and machine learning platforms with a strong emphasis on availability, performance, resiliency, security, scalability, observability, and cost efficiency.
• We prefer experience creating reference architectures, reusable patterns, platform guardrails, and engineering standards across Azure, Databricks, Kubernetes, networking, storage, identity, secrets management, and data services.
• We prefer experience assessing platform needs and making trade-offs across reliability, security, compliance, interoperability, operational efficiency, vendor dependency, and total cost of ownership.
• We prefer experience building secure integration patterns for AI applications, agents, enterprise data, vector search, private connectivity, content controls, approved model providers, and secrets management.
• We prefer experience implementing observability and operational excellence using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, cloud monitoring, centralized logging, and service-level reporting.
• We prefer experience building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code, configuration automation, and CI/CD or GitOps workflows for repeatable provisioning, deployment, testing, and lifecycle management.
• We prefer experience applying security-by-design, zero-trust, least-privilege, and defense-in-depth principles across identity, access management, networking, encryption, data protection, platform administration, and AI services.
• We prefer experience with large-scale batch and real-time data platforms, distributed systems, streaming technologies, data warehouses, and databases such as Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• We prefer experience managing enterprise data platforms and governance capabilities, including storage, processing, security, quality, lineage, and communicating technical, financial, and operational considerations to business and engineering leaders.
• An Azure Administrator certification is preferred.

• We lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable cloud data platforms that support analytics, AI, machine learning, and reporting workloads.
• We drive large-scale modernization, migration, and platform transformation initiatives.
• We establish best practices for DataOps, DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and platform automation.
• We strengthen governance, security, compliance, access management, and data protection controls in regulated environments.
• We partner with architecture, security, product, and engineering leadership to shape platform roadmaps and technology choices.
• We lead incident response, platform reliability, monitoring, observability, and operational excellence efforts.
• We mentor engineers and promote a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
