Job Summary And Qualifications You will maintain clear communication with the attending physician and licensed nurse assigned to patient about all patient care issues. You will assist with patient examinations or treatments and observe and report patients’ signs or symptoms. You will take vital signs and measure and record patient input and output. You will attach oxygen and cardiac monitors. You will monitor patient cardiac rhythm, perform 12 lead EKG, document EKG strips, suction patient airways as directed, and report findings to physician and care team assigned to patient. You will receive patients from EMS personnel and prepare patients for the physician’s care. You will collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the physician and perform basic laboratory procedures. You will assist emergency department physicians with patient examinations and treatments including central line insertions, lumbar punctures, defibrillation, cardioversion, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, arterial lines, suturing, needle chest decompressions, endotracheal and nasotracheal intubation, insertion of intraosseous lines, endotracheal suctioning, inserting Foley catheters, and securing airways through insertion of oral/nasal airway devices. You will perform CPR, defibrillation, cardioversion, and transcutaneous pacing during emergencies.
