Director of Annual Giving
Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services
POSITION OVERVIEW: Join a collaborative and mission-driven Development team as the Director of Annual Giving. This newly created role will build and manage The Jewish Board's annual giving program, driving broad-based fundraising revenue across multiple channels and donor segments. The Director of Annual Giving is a critical partner in the organization's goal to significantly grow philanthropic support over the next 2–5 years, cultivating a robust pipeline of donors at every level. The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the agency's annual fund, a mid-level giving program, and volunteer-driven fundraising initiatives, including oversight of The Jewish Board's Young Leaders Committee (junior board). He/she/they will work in close partnership with the Development Operations Manager and the Director of Major Gifts and Special Projects to ensure seamless data management, donor tracking, and upgrade pathways across the giving continuum. Collaborative work is essential – the Director of Annual Giving will regularly partner with colleagues across the Development team, including Foundations, Corporate Giving, Major Gifts, Special Events, and Volunteer Services. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and skilled communicator who brings both a data-driven mindset and genuine enthusiasm for building donor relationships at scale. Annual Fund Strategy & Multi-Channel Fundraising Design and execute The Jewish Board's annual giving program across all channels: direct mail, email, digital, phone, and peer-to-peer. Develop and manage a comprehensive annual calendar of acquisition, renewal, upgrade, and lapsed-donor recovery campaigns. Set annual revenue goals for each giving tier and channel; produce regular reports on progress for the CDO and senior leadership. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop compelling donor-facing copy, appeals, and stewardship materials. Mid-Level Giving Program ($2,500–$10,000) Build and manage a formal mid-level giving program for donors in the $2,500–$10,000 range. Develop individualized outreach and upgrade strategies for mid-level donors, with the goal of deepening engagement and identifying candidates for transition to the major gifts portfolio. Maintain close coordination with the Director of Major Gifts and Special Projects on donor movement across the giving continuum. Recurring Giving Manage and grow the recurring/monthly donor program, including acquisition, retention, lapse recovery, and upgrade strategies. Develop meaningful recognition and stewardship touchpoints to strengthen recurring donor loyalty and lifetime value. Oversee The Jewish Board's Young Leaders Committee (junior board) in partnership with a Development Associate, managing cultivation events, peer-to-peer fundraising, and engagement of young professionals. Set programmatic goals for YLC giving and engagement; support the Development Associate in managing day-to-day committee logistics. Use YLC engagement and giving data to identify future major gift prospects; coordinate with the Director of Major Gifts and Special Projects on relationship handoffs as appropriate. Donor Data, Reporting & Operations Work in close, ongoing partnership with the Development Operations Manager on all database functions, including list pulls, segmentation, appeal coding, gift entry, and data hygiene. Produce regular reports on annual giving performance for the CDO and senior leadership. Collaborate across the Development team to align on donor strategy, coordinate outreach, and avoid overlap. Manage acknowledgment and stewardship workflows for all annual fund donors, ensuring timely and appropriate recognition at every level. Support the identification of mid-level and annual donors with major gift potential for cultivation by the Director of Major Gifts. CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Deep knowledge of best practice in fundraising and donor engagement, stewardship, and appreciation.
