Research Technician - Neurology (Dr. Kevin Lin)

Overview UTHealth Houston’s Neurology Department is hiring for a Research Technician to join the Kevin Lin Lab. The role supports entry-level laboratory duties, organizational tasks, and maintaining a safe, orderly lab environment. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, able to follow instructions, and capable of maintaining accurate records and documentation. Location 6431 Fannin Street, Houston, Texas 77030 Funding and employment considerations This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Employment may end upon cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding. Lab information More information on the Kevin Lin Lab: Kevin Lin Lab | McGovern Medical School Responsibilities Washes, dries, and sterilizes laboratory glassware and instruments; distributes clean glassware to laboratories; may support equipment in dry lab environments. Performs custodial laboratory duties and maintains a safe laboratory environment by following safety procedures. Prepares lab solutions for simple to complex biochemical experiments; uses autoclave, pipet washer, centrifuge, microscope, and ultraviolet light microscope with fluorescent detachments as needed. Performs autoclaving and disposal of biohazardous materials. Conducts routine tests in a research laboratory setting and maintains reference materials and laboratory notebooks. Under supervision, orders basic laboratory supplies and maintains equipment. Demonstrates the safe and proper use of scientific laboratory equipment as required. May collect lab coats daily for laundry, complete laundry slips, and return coats to labs. Performs other duties as assigned. Certification/Skills Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required Minimum Experience: 6 Months Of Experience In Research Lab Preferred Physical Requirements Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
