Description
We are seeking a collaborative Speech/Language Pathologist to provide speech/language services to the Wabeno Area School District for children from age 3 to 21 years of age. The SLP will evaluate, develop programming and implement evidence-based interventions to support students with speech, language and communication needs that impact their access to engagement with and progress in the general education setting. The Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) will work collaboratively and proactively with teachers, families and other educational professionals to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) to support students' communication needs and enhance their educational performance.Required Qualifications :
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (#1820) or eligibility to obtain
- Energetic individual with a passion for speech and language to join our team in a warm inviting environment
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with IEP team members, including general education teachers, related service providers, and families to design and implement effective programming that promotes student growth
- Experience supporting students with diverse disability-related needs, including those related to autism, speech-language impairments, emotional-behavioral regulation, and specific learning disabilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and other professionals.
- Ability to work independently, manage caseloads, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of Wisconsin's CCR IEP 5-Step Process
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
- Administer standardized tests and other assessment tools to measure students' speech and language abilities.
- Analyze assessment results, interpret findings, determine eligibility, and develop individualized intervention plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals to gather relevant information and ensure a holistic understanding of students' needs
- Provide direct therapy sessions to students, targeting areas such as articulation, language comprehension, expressive language, fluency, and social communication skills.
- Monitor and document progress regularly, adjusting intervention plans to ensure continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to support students' communication needs in the classroom and educational setting.
- Provide consultation and guidance to teachers and staff regarding effective communication strategies and accommodations for students with speech and language difficulties.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments, therapy sessions, progress reports, and related documentation.
- Prepare written reports summarizing assessment results, progress, and recommendations for students, parents/guardians, and other team members.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines in record-keeping and documentation practices.
Wabeno is a recreational area with opportunities for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, side by siding, skiing, swimming, camping, and hiking. The area is rural with beautiful rolling hills and wildlife areas. The School District of Wabeno Area has about 395+ students in grades 4K-12 in two separate buildings. The district is made up of students from Wabeno, Carter, Lakewood, Townsend, Freedom and other small townships.
