Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor

Our client, a growing advanced nuclear fuel and technology company in Oak Ridge, TN, is hiring a Laboratory Supervisor to lead daily operations of its QC laboratories. This is a working supervisor role: you will lead a team of Laboratory Technicians while staying hands-on at the bench across wet chemistry, mechanical testing, and analytical testing. What You'll Do Supervise day-to-day laboratory operations: task assignments, scheduling, sample flow, and turnaround to support production, engineering, and QC Perform hands-on testing (wet chemistry, gravimetric analysis, tensile and physical testing, measurement system analysis) to support workload and cover gaps Train, coach, and develop Laboratory Technicians, including onboarding, qualification, and performance feedback Maintain equipment readiness: calibration, service coordination, and audit-ready documentation and traceability records Verify test data for accuracy and conformance before release; document and resolve nonconformances with QC management Troubleshoot analytical issues, identify erroneous data, and support root cause investigations Drive continuous improvement: update SOPs, reduce turnaround time, and evaluate new testing technologies What You Bring Hands-on laboratory testing experience in wet chemistry, analytical techniques, and/or mechanical testing Experience leading or mentoring technical personnel (working-lead experience counts) Experience with calibration, equipment troubleshooting, and documentation control Strong attention to detail, data integrity mindset, and safety focus Education Bachelor\'s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Technology, or related field; OR Associate degree with laboratory experience; OR High school diploma with 3+ years of QC laboratory experience Preferred Experience in a regulated environment (nuclear, aerospace, medical device) Ability to write and revise laboratory procedures and reports Strong mathematical and statistical skills for data evaluation and measurement system analysis Eligibility Requirement This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a US Department of Energy (DOE) / NRC "Q" security clearance within one year of hire. US citizenship is required. An active clearance is NOT required to apply.
