Position Summary:
The Outreach and Education Coordinator is primarily responsible for developing,promoting, conducting, and documenting the program's outreach, educational, andtechnical assistance activities as well as other community education and traininginitiatives. In addition, the Outreach and Education Coordinator organizes events,conducts workshops, manages volunteers, and is responsible for a wide range ofadministrative tasks.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
• Grow participation in and awareness of Bronx Green-Up activities andevents through mediums that include e-blasts, promotional materials,and social media campaigns.
• Develop, organize, and conduct activities and events to engage the publicwith Bronx Green-Up.
• Track and record all relevant data related to outreach, education,volunteermanagement, and technical assistance for required reports.
• Develop, coordinate, and teach workshops and training programs oncompostand other horticulture topics.
• Provide technical assistance and training to Bronx residents, schools,community sites, neighborhood groups, and non-profit organizationsinterested in composting and community stewardship activities.
• Create tip sheets, handouts, flyers, signs, and other materials.
• Recruit, train, coordinate, supervise, and develop opportunities forvolunteers interested in engaging with the Bronx Green-Up program.
• Perform tasks such as shoveling, weeding, loading/unloading plant andcompost material, etc., in a variety of weather conditions.
• Additional Bronx Green-Up duties as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combinationof education and relevant experience
• Minimum two years of related work experience, preferably incommunity outreach, education, environmental programming or relatedfield
• Knowledge of and commitment to composting, community greening andenvironmental stewardship
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office and other common computerapplications
• Experience working with the public, independently and as part of acollaborative team, in a variety of settings
• Valid New York State driver's license
• Local travel required
• Weekends and some evening hours required
• Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to,at minimum, work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, be able tolift and\or move up to 25 pounds.

Baseline Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
Salary:Commensurate with experience within the range of $50,000-$55,000
