Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level II Trauma experience and Cerner or EPIC proficiency.

Details

• 522-bed Level II Trauma Center with Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center designation
• 71-bed high acuity Level II ED functioning as a Level I
• Patient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases
• Patient ratios of 1:4 in ER, 1:5 for MS holds, and 1:3 for ICU holds
• 12-hour day shifts, 36/48 schedule with shift start at 7a
• Shift options include 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, and 3p-3a on a 4-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation of every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month on block schedule
• No floating required
• No on-call requirements
• Unit supported by CNAs (1:12 ratio), HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy until 0300, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist
• No telemetry monitoring tech support
• Uses Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors

Requirements

• Active RN license (AL state or compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (ICU or ER) required, with most recent year in a Level II ER
• Cerner or EPIC EMR experience required
• Level II Trauma Center or higher experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Secure/CPI, NIHSS, and TNCC
• Skills required include trach care, vent care, ICU drip care and maintenance, chest tube, art line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley, splint/ortho device application, BiPAP/HiFlow, and continuous bladder irrigation
• First-time travelers considered if they have at least 2 years of experience along with Cerner or EPIC and Level II Trauma or higher experience

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of high-acuity patient populations in a busy trauma center setting
• New-to-facility travelers or those returning after 1+ years receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours on the unit
• Rehire orientation length depends on last date worked at facility
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy, though specific dates off are not guaranteed prior to arrival
• Multiple blackout periods throughout the year restrict requested time off
• Up to 7 days of time off can be pre-approved excluding blackout dates
• Scrubs must be any solid color
• Parking available in a parking garage
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
