Supervisor, Pre-Analytical Laboratory

Abbott seeks a Supervisor for the Pre-Analytical Laboratory at its Redwood City facility. The role involves overseeing team operations, specimen processing, workflow coordination, and quality compliance while performing 20-30% bench work. The position reports to the Laboratory Manager and requires liaison responsibilities across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of pre-analytical laboratory department and ensure policy compliance
• Perform bench work 20-30% of time including sample receipt, order entry, and specimen preparation
• Conduct staff meetings, provide coaching, performance feedback, and manage hiring and onboarding
• Coordinate workflow scheduling, troubleshoot operational issues, and monitor productivity standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process improvements and participate in audits

Requirements

• Supervisory or team leadership experience in laboratory or manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and laboratory compliance standards (CLIA, CAP, ISO)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to manage cross-functional collaboration
• Experience with laboratory information systems and process troubleshooting
• Demonstrated project management and process improvement capabilities
• Ability to perform hands-on laboratory work including sample processing and specimen preparation
