Middle School Academic Resources Coordinator - Part-Time

Summary Job Description Covenant Day School’s Middle School Academic Resources Coordinator leads the middle school’s efforts to provide services to students identified for specialized instructional needs. The coordinator organizes all services for the middle school in conjunction with the practices and strategies of the CDS Academic Resources Department for K-12 services. This individual supervises and directs a team that currently has three part‑time specialists who serve middle school students individually and/or in small groups. The coordinator may also serve students as part of the role if needs arise. Reporting to the Academic Resources Director and working a regular schedule of 20 hours each school week (four or five days a week), this is a part‑time, exempt (salaried) position during the approximately ten‑month academic school year. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Duties Include: Coordinate and schedule all academic resources services for the CDS middle school; supervise academic resources learning specialists assigned to the middle school; attend middle school staff meetings as needed Perform intake interviews to gain a foundational understanding of individual needs and evaluate information from medical and/or psychological professionals to determine eligibility; makes referrals and/or consults with diagnosticians, as necessary. Partner with the Academic Resources Director, middle school principal, and/or middle school counselor along with other middle school faculty and staff to serve student needs Serve possibly one or two students directly through individualized sessions if needed based on scheduling Identify student needs and partner with the Academic Resources Director to determine contractual services to be assigned Provide direction, feedback and encouragement to middle school specialists on their work with students and teachers Reassess middle school student AMPS on an annual basis and maintain testing documentation Communicate with middle school teachers and parents regarding students’ needs and progress Serve as coordinator for student testing needs Take advantage of professional development opportunities and keep up to date with developments in appropriate subject areas Listen to students’ concerns about academic problems and help them process their problems and plan goals/action items; mediate academic issues between students and teachers as needed When social/emotional issues arise related to academic topic partner with middle school counselor and other colleagues as needed to find the right support for a student Have an attitude of Christian service and model Christian principles and behavior to students and colleagues Maintain confidentiality of student records, as applicable Additional duties as assigned by the Academic Resources Director Qualifications Committed follower of Jesus Christ, reflecting a desire to serve Him and others in work and life Eager to serve in a Christian learning environment, modeling diligence, perseverance, resilience, patience, courage, and Christian discipleship Bachelor’s degree in special education topics and/or education Teacher certification preferred Specialized training in Orton‑Gillingham, NILD, Wilson Reading or related discipline required Ability to be flexible according to the changing needs of student Positive attitude and a genuine love for and ability to connect with school youth Passion for learning and a willingness to work collaboratively Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and faculty/staff Demonstrated ability to serve with initiative and proactive approaches; computer skills as applicable to effective teaching #J-18808-Ljbffr Wayne Country Day School
