Patient Care Tech I - Med Surg

Overview The primary function of the Patient Care Technician (PCT) is to assist the patient and family with basic patient care, monitoring, hygiene, and to help ensure care is complete. The PCT works as an essential part of the patient care team. As the member who spends most of their time in the presence of the patient, compassion, caring, and excellent human interaction skills are necessary along with excellent communication skills both to and from the patient and family, and to and from the rest of the healthcare team. Responsibilities Assist patients with basic care, monitoring, hygiene, and activities of daily living as directed by the care team. Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Support care continuity and quality as part of the patient care team. Qualifications 12 college level credit hours that include a passing grade in English Composition with a C or higher and an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater (transcripts verified upon application). Healthcare experience preferred but not required. Service industry experience preferred but not required. Willingness to work flexible hours. Good organization skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to learn and apply new healthcare-related skills; communicate effectively and consistently. Ability to collaborate with the health care team effectively and consistently. Ability to engage people at the appropriate level for their wellness and cognition. Ability to problem solve and be proactive in anticipating customer needs. Will provide education that includes: CPR, Skills training, Crucial Conversations, and Hospitality in Healthcare.
