HVAC TECHNICIAN (FULL TIME)

We are hiring immediately for full‑time HVAC Technician positions. Location: East Texas A&M Mn – 2600 South Neal Street, Commerce, TX 75428. (Openings at other locations within the school district are available. Note: online applications are accepted only.) Schedule: Full‑time schedule; Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. More details upon interview. (Full and part‑time options with the flexibility to meet most scheduling needs.) Requirement: 1 year of prior commercial HVAC experience and boiler experience is required. Pay Range: $16.00 per hour to $18.00 per hour. Job Summary The HVAC Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facilities engineering and maintenance functions. Incumbent is assigned to work under a Supervisor, Foreman, or Master Mechanic, guided by proven skill in one trade, and guided by an appropriate state license. Within the chosen trade, the technician works independently to analyze and correct complex problems and ensures that non‑licensed workers perform work consistently with correct practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and non‑complex reactive repairs. Update work statuses and document tasks completed in the CMMS using a mobile device. Help determine manpower, material needs, and deadlines for jobs and projects. Clean, lubricate, service, repair, and diagnose malfunction of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, food‑service equipment, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire‑alarm systems, and similar plant and specialty equipment. Assist in making decisions on all repairs and report major problems to the Maintenance Supervisor, Foreman, and Manager as appropriate. Construct, finish, install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical systems or the facilities of related systems, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment. Review outside vendor projects and create punch lists. Analyze and correct complex building‑system problems and electro‑mechanical problems related to utilities. Support project‑management activity as needed. Respond to emergency problems in the facility and make emergency repairs as needed. Maintain logs, perform rounds, and complete preventive‑maintenance work orders, tests, and inspections. Make recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive‑maintenance systems. Maintain shops and mechanical areas in a clean and safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in engineering or maintenance discipline. One of the following licenses: Journeyman Electrical License, Registered ACR Technician with EPA certification in Refrigerant, or Journeyman Plumber License. Experience working with blueprints and schematics; a valid driver’s license. General understanding of electro‑mechanical equipment. Basic ability to utilize hand‑operated construction equipment. Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds, kneel, bend, and perform strenuous labor for extended periods. Working Conditions Exposure to high heat, noise, dust, dirt, and infection‑control areas. Must meet daily work‑completion deadlines. Must be able to work all hours, including weekends and nights, as required to maintain the facility safely.
