Director of Pharmacy

Job Description

Leads all pharmacy operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, medication safety, clinical quality, and operational efficiency. Oversees pharmacy staff, departmental policies, quality initiatives, formulary management, and strategic planning. Provides leadership, staff development, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support optimal patient care and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance

Lead, develop, and evaluate pharmacy staff

Ensure safe and effective medication management practices

Drive quality improvement and operational performance initiatives

Manage departmental policies, programs, and formulary standards

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and hospital leadership

Support strategic planning, budgeting, and departmental goals

Skills and Requirements

B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.

§ 3+ year's hospital pharmacy experience with 2+ year's supervisory or leadership experience.

§ Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy.

§ Other applicable state requirements - i.e. sterile compounding, etc.

§ BLS certification.

§ Knowledgeable and proficient in the legal responsibilities of the pharmacist to the facility and all state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services.

§ Experience working in Microsoft Office applications, Electronic Medical Record Systems. Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy.

§ 5+ year's hospital pharmacy experience.

§ ALS/ACLS certification. (Required if attending Code Blue).
