Our technologies, products and services deliver distinctive performance features, thus helping to support our Customers' reputations for trusted brands around the globe and in a wide variety of markets.We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces.The Production Assistant assists the Multistage Operator and Second Operator operate the multi-stage presses by ensuring product meets quality standards and is run efficiently and troubleshooting any production problems. This position will also assist in plantwide general duties as required. Also, the Production Helper is responsible for training other Production Helpers and learning Multistage Operator and Second Operator responsibilities and cover for Second Operator's absence.Key Responsibilities:Follow all safety rules & Actively participate in Safety, Health, and Environment programTake direction from and assist Multistage Operator and Second Operator with all duties related to operation of pressResponsible for cleanliness of press and other areas as assigned by SupervisorEmpty rag cans, solid and liquid hazardous containers, and empty used blades. Label Hazardous waste cans properlyPrepare for wash-up by having all necessary supplies ready for each stage, wash-up and set-up on all pressesPrepare materials for upcoming job on area of assignment. Coordinate with ink production suppliers to get ink to proper stageCheck and ensure viscosities and ink levels. Bring out inks as neededTake out turns for every roll during production run, label and package as requiredStack pallets and presses with needed suppliesAssist with set-up and breakdown of jobLearn solvent dispense systemUtilize SAP ERP systemLearn Second Operator duties and fill in during absenceAvailable for Overtime/off shifts as neededRequired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:General Mechanical KnowledgeFarnsworth-Munsell color test score of Average Discrimination or aboveBasic Computer SkillsExcellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to all levels of managementAbility to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to create and interpret bar charts/graphsAbility to accurately read a tape measure, take precise measurements, and ensure proper customer specsSuccessfully complete the training matrixForklift License (training and certification provided by SURTECO)Exceptionally good and consistent color matching abilityDesired Qualifications:2-year technical degreeComplete Forklift Certification if requiredPrevious Printing ExperienceEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentPhysical Requirements:Must be able to lift 50 pounds as neededMust be medically qualified to use respiratory protection for wash upsFrequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipmentRegularly required to stand for extended periods of time; walk; sit; bend; kneel; squat; climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and armsComfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.Ability to detect, distinguish, or determine the source of a smellExposure or works around chemical processing, unregulated temperature, dusty conditionsTravel Requirements:Time spent away from home or typical office location.0% to 50% or moreCompany Statement:SURTECO is an Equal Opportunity employer committed to providing equal access to employment.
