Description

Position Summary:

The Clinical Educator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing management of clinical education, onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and workforce development activities for Medical Assistants and other designated clinical support staff.

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Clinical Educator works collaboratively with operational, clinical, risk, compliance, quality, and human resources leaders to develop and maintain standardized clinical education infrastructure, training programs, and competency processes. The Clinical Educator also partners with department leaders across the organization to support consistent approaches to onboarding, education, and competency management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exemplifies the Mission, Vision, Values, and Service Excellence standards of Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center.
  • Maintains current knowledge of ambulatory care, FQHC and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) principles, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based clinical practice; incorporates these principles into clinical education and workforce development activities.
  • Serves as the primary clinical educator for Medical Assistants and designated clinical support staff, coordinating onboarding, orientation, competency validation, workflow training, and professional development activities.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains competency frameworks, skills checklists, training materials, education records, and competency tracking processes for Medical Assistants and designated clinical support staff.
  • Provides clinical skills education related to patient rooming, medication administration, specimen collection, clinical procedures, infection prevention, patient safety, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements appropriate to role and scope of practice.
  • Coordinates and supports onboarding, orientation, and preceptor development activities to promote consistent training and competency validation practices for Medical Assistants and designated clinical support staff.
  • Partners with clinical and operational leaders across departments to identify learning needs, address skill gaps, develop educational resources, and promote consistent onboarding, competency management, training documentation, and workforce development practices.
  • Supports education related to Electronic Health Record (EHR) workflows, documentation standards, and system optimization; functions as an EHR super-user.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management and Quality teams to support audits, workflow reviews, competency assessments, and quality improvement initiatives that strengthen patient safety and clinical performance.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous learning, accountability, collaboration, patient safety, and integrated team-based care.
  • Prepares education reports, competency tracking data, and training compliance summaries as requested.
  • Participates in meetings, committees, and organizational initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Work Experience: Four years of progressively responsible nursing experience preferably in primary care, ambulatory care, community health, or population health setting. Two years experience in adult learning preferred. Experience working within a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model preferred.

Education, Certification and Licensure . Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensed and in good standing in the State of Alaska. Must maintain current BLS certification.

Additional Skills & Knowledge: Bilingual preferred
