Mechanical Engineer

Fullerton, 13600 Fullerton Ave, Detroit, MI 48227, USA AJM Packaging Corporation, one of America’s leading manufacturers of paper products, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Detroit, MI. This position will convert existing machines into Computer-aided design (CAD), improve old designs, and introduce automation to existing lines. Responsibilities & Duties Create detailed mechanical designs utilizing Autodesk Inventor for new and existing paper converting machinery, ensuring they meet specifications and standards. Work independently to gather data and input on the development of original designs or adaptations of existing designs after having been given general instructions regarding purpose and parameters. Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports. Work closely with other engineers, draftsmen, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product development. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policy. Apply Geometric, Dimensions, & Tolerancing (GDT) principles to new and existing mechanical blueprints. Stay updated with the latest engineering trends, tools, and technologies to continually improve design process. Minimum Requirements Proficient experience with Computer Aided Drafting; Preferably Autodesk Inventor. 5+ years of mechanical design experience for automated equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience in machine design working with pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation. Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, engineering documentation. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
