Location: Detroit, MI 48226
Pay Rate: $38.90 per hour
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: Approximately 5 months, with potential for additional hours
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with three days per week onsite
Travel: None required

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant / Financial Analyst to support financial analysis, cost allocation, and accounting activities. This position will analyze financial and operational data from multiple business systems to understand project charging, identify discrepancies, and support accurate financial reporting.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting or finance professional, recent graduate, or current student who is comfortable working with data and eager to expand their experience in a professional corporate environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial data using work management, ERP, and asset management systems.
• Review project charges, cost allocations, and related financial transactions.
• Use intermediate to advanced Excel functions to organize and analyze data.
• Identify discrepancies, trends, and potential financial reporting issues.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and financial summaries.
• Maintain accurate documentation and supporting financial records.
• Communicate findings clearly to team members and business stakeholders.
• Ask questions, seek clarification, and develop an understanding of internal financial processes.
• Support additional accounting and financial analysis projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred.
• Current students pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business are encouraged to apply.
• Previous accounting, financial analysis, or related business experience is preferred.
• Experience working with spreadsheets, databases, or financial software applications.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare clear reports and present financial information effectively.
• Willingness to learn new systems, ask questions, and take initiative.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

Additional Information

• Candidates must be available to work onsite in Detroit three days per week.
• This position does not require travel or driving.
• The standard schedule is eight hours per day and 40 hours per week.
• Weekly timesheet submission is required.
