Responsibilities Provide expert patient‑centered medical care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute, chronic, and preventive health needs within specialty. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated care, reviewing conflicting medical evidence to reach conclusions. Perform specialty‑specific diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or surgical procedures consistent with training and credentialing, including adjudicating complex disability claims. Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and professional development of medical staff, students, and trainees. Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical innovation initiatives to advance healthcare delivery. Requirements U.S. citizenship required. Male candidates born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service. Probationary period may apply. Successful completion of a federal background investigation is required. On‑call hours or standby duty may be required. Successful completion of the E‑Verify employment verification check required. Direct deposit set‑up required. Qualifications Basic Requirements: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a U.S. or Canadian accredited medical school. Foreign medical graduate degrees must be equivalent to accredited U.S. schools, demonstrated by ECFMG certification, a fifth pathway certificate, or completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Active, unrestricted, full license or registration as a Physician issued by a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory. At least one year of supervised internship or residency experience in a clinical setting. Minimum Qualifications (by grade level): GS‑13: 3 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience. GS‑14: 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience. GS‑15: 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience. Additional Qualifications: Specialty programs include the following areas: Anatomic & Clinical Pathology, Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, General Surgery, Hospitalist, Informatics, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Pathology, Palliative, Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, Primary Care, Psychiatry, Radiology, Tele‑Psychiatry. Board certification is preferred but not required.
