Supervisory Aerospace Engineer, AST

Summary As a Supervisory AST Branch Chief within the Research and Engineering Directorate, you will provide technical and organizational leadership for branch personnel performing aerospace research engineering, and technology development activities. You will be responsible for workforce planning, employee supervision and development, strategic planning, and technical oversight supporting Agency programs, projects, and mission objectives. Major Duties Perform a full range of supervisory duties including assigning and evaluating work, recommending personnel actions, taking disciplinary actions, and identifying training needs and developing employees. Serve as Discipline Lead Engineer and Engineering Technical Authority for branch discipline areas, ensuring the technical integrity of branch research and/or engineering products. Provide technical and organizational leadership for branch personnel performing research, technology development, and/or engineering activities supporting Agency programs and projects. Establish performance expectations, develop employees, recognize high performance, and implement corrective or disciplinary actions as appropriate. Plan workforce allocation and advocate for resources needed to support strategic objectives, critical mission requirements, and succession planning. Coordinate branch activities with program/project offices, external organizations, and Agency leadership to support mission execution and strategic partnerships. Define and assign work and be responsible for branch technical products, including technical approach, schedules, and resource estimates. Oversee implementation of technical processes, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure technical excellence and appropriate risk management. Ensure employees have the resources and information necessary to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Education Basic Education Requirement: A bachelor’s degree with a major in one of the following areas: Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, or other field of science. Computer Science with substantial coursework in mathematics and computer science, including differential and integral calculus. Graduates in qualifying fields who do not hold a bachelor’s degree may be considered if they possess an advanced degree in the same disciplines. Degrees earned outside the United States must be equivalent to an accredited U.S. program as determined by recognized accreditation or mutual recognition agreements. All qualifications must have been earned in the year of or subsequent to the last accreditation date. #J-18808-Ljbffr NASA
