Basic Job Functions:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing and maintaining production tooling and equipment and general facility maintenance according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the Companys business goals and objectives.

• Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
• Diagnose problems, test and make adjustments, replace or repair parts and equipment such as industrial saws, overhead cranes, welders, paint and wash equipment, CNC mills, various hand, power and pneumatic tools, drill press, and loading docks.
• Coordinate with outside contractors on all install, maintenance and repair needs of equipment.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Monitor, maintain and document all preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on overhead cranes, scissors lift, and forklifts.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineer on all building needs including, but not limited to, HVAC, office furniture repairs, plumbing and electrical, roof and general building maintenance, light fixtures, water softeners and heaters.
• Assist on special projects for research and development department such as: build fixtures, assist with door install, and assist with fabrication of parts.
• Facilitate the orders of supplies and tooling.
• Perform emergency fixes and repairs as needed.
• Open minded and willing to learn from experienced Techs.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to work 2nd shift hours Monday - Thursday 3:00pm - 1:30am. Willingness to train on 1st shift beofre switching to 2nd shift schedule. 
• Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and scissors lifts while following safety guidelines is a must.
• Commercial or industrial electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, CNC, welding, plumbing and carpentry background.
• Experience operating hand tools, power tools and pneumatic tools, general fabrication tools, and various measuring devices including but not limited to tape measures, calipers and ohm meters.
• Ability to read and interpret reports, work instructions, schematics and blueprints.
• Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record. Daytrips will be required 2 times a month as well as trips to our other manufacturing facility in Jackson as needed.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees and contractors.
• Familiarity with MS Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand, squat, kneel, climb stairs and/or ladders. No feaqr of hights. 
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where the noise level is high.
• Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or mangers, customers, and/or general public.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as functions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Programming experience is a huge plus.
