Part-time Direct Support Professional (3rd Shift)

Burton Center – Direct Support Professional (Part‑time) Burton Center is looking for a part‑time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work an average of 12‑25 hours per week on the second shift. This role supports up to eight adults with disabilities and special needs in an Intermediate Care Facility. About the Position The hours are 12‑25 hours every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You will use person‑centered support to help residents develop independence, manage self‑care, attend community activities, and maintain a clean environment. You will also assist with light meal preparation, medication administration, and other individualized care as needed. The position offers in‑person training and on‑the‑job instruction; responsibilities may include driving Burton Center vehicles, operating wheelchair lifts, using therapeutic options, and obtaining Basic Life Support and MedTech certifications. A Chromebook is provided for tracking progress using the online system “Therap.” Responsibilities Provide direct care, including toileting, hygiene, medication administration, and feeding assistance. Support residents in developing self‑help skills and participation in planned outings and activities. Follow individual behavioral support plans and maintain a safe, clean environment. Document progress and complete reports using the online system. Required Qualifications Valid South Carolina Driver’s License. Ability to lift or maneuver up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time. Adaptable, proactive, team‑player attitude and commitment to advocacy. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Orientation & Training All new staff must complete a mandatory in‑person orientation and MedTech training before on‑the‑job instruction.
