Patient Care Unit Secretary & Monitor Technician

Responsibilities The Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician performs clerical and communication functions on the assigned nursing unit. S/he monitors patients for arrhythmias and alerts proper personnel as needed. She/he provides courteous reception on the nursing unit and coordinates activities for patient care. Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience; Completion of an EKG or Rhythm interpretation course. Minimum Experience & Knowledge Minimum of one (1) year current experience as a Unit Secretary and Monitor Tech in an acute care; Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing; Knowledge of medical terminology; Data entry computer skills. License & Certification Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card from the American Heart Association; ED/Geropsych: AB 508 Certification (if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire); EKG course required; Successful candidate must pass rhythm recognition exam. Compensation Hourly rate range for this position is $26 to $33.65.
