Overview Responsible for the materials strategy in the assigned global business unit. This position includes responsibility for situational analysis, strategy development and guidance in implementation for the functional disciplines of supply chain development, procurement, planning and inventory control. These strategies should support the individual customer’s needs and be complementary to Jabil’s overall Supply Chain Management goals. The Global Business Unit Materials Manager provides leadership and strategic direction to the work cells in factories where the business unit manufactures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Management Responsibilities Recruitment: Staff the global materials team to meet objectives, establish expectations of positions, communicate criteria to recruiters. Employee and Team Development: Identify strengths and development needs, create or validate training curriculum, coach and mentor team members, assist with succession planning. Performance Management: Establish measurable goals and objectives, solicit feedback, provide coaching, influence evaluations, drive continuous improvement, coordinate activities, manage recognition and rewards. Communication: Provide communication forum, organize ideas, ask questions, adapt communication style. Supply Chain Management Responsibilities Business Strategy and Direction: Understand corporate strategic direction, analyze customer needs, develop a materials strategy aligned with organizational goals, champion implementation of strategy in factory work cells. Cost Management: Identify cost‑reduction opportunities, streamline processes, develop cost analytics tools, provide feedback on cost trends. Forecast Development and Accuracy: Participate in Jabil’s monthly forecast cycle. Technical Management Responsibilities Planning/Inventory Control: Champion execution of standard planning and inventory strategies, drive process to receive and fulfill demand, maintain master schedule, develop product launch plans, evaluate buffer inventory, manage inventory reports, recover cost of excess/obsolete inventory, recommend initiatives to lower inventory costs (JIT, hubbing, etc.). Supply Chain Management: Communicate customer needs, manage materials quotation cycle, qualify new suppliers, negotiate favorable terms, lead effort to obtain full commodity and sourcing control, promote use of strategic suppliers. Customer Service: Demonstrate customer service commitment, represent materials team, solve problems quickly, serve as escalation point, comply with safety and security rules. Minimum Requirements HS Diploma and eight years related experience in electronics manufacturing and materials management. Experience in negotiation, cost reduction activities, and materials planning. Domestic and international travel required. Customer service and management, strategic supply chain solutions and proposals, value‑add proposal creation and review preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Materials Logistics Management, or related discipline preferred.
