Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Orthopedic (Travel)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13–26 weeks | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 4x12-hour shifts | Expected 48 hours/week (36 hours/week available upon candidate request)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care activities for all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans
• Provide specialized nursing care for post-surgical patients with an emphasis on orthopedic procedures on an 18-bed expanding unit
• Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
• Manage cardiac drips and operate EKG machines as required on the unit
• Float throughout the Med Surg service line as needed based on unit demands
• Function within the scope of nursing practice consistent with applicable state nursing practice standards and established clinical guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold a Missouri RN license
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1+ year of inpatient hospital experience
• Ability to manage cardiac drips and operate an EKG machine
• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; exemptions must receive client approval
• Must be available the entire first week for orientation (night shift nurses orient on day shift)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with EPIC EMR highly preferred
• Prior experience in a Med Surg Orthopedic or post-surgical nursing environment
• Strong team-oriented mindset with a focus on positive patient outcomes and superior communication skills
