Gender Health, Mental Health Therapist - LICSW, LMHC or LMFT (CapitolHill/Seattle)

Job Summary Provide emergency and routine mental health psychotherapy services to consumers, including assessment and treatment. Provide clinical consultation within and outside the Behavioral Health Services Clinic. May participate in training and clinical supervision of psychotherapy interns. The Gender Health Mental Health Therapist position is a key support for our Gender Health patient population. The therapist provides urgent and routine mental health services to our Gender Health patient population. They are knowledgeable about the Gender Health patient journey and treatment options and assist patients in understanding the process. They assess readiness for surgery, including writing surgery letters per the WPATH criteria. Responsibilities Assess clinical needs of consumers in crisis, determine appropriate crisis intervention, and provide consultation and referral as necessary. Conduct psychosocial assessment, Mental Status Examination, identify chemical dependency and other high‑risk issues. Utilize clinical assessment information to formulate a 5‑axis DSM IV diagnosis. Assess client needs and issues, determine appropriate level of care, provide consultation/referral, coordinate care between providers and coordinate treatment planning. Work with clients to develop realistic, measurable treatment goals with clear outcomes. Document all contacts using clear, concise written communication, adhering to KFHPW and BHS Clinical Documentation Standards. Demonstrate proficiency in brief treatment models—family, couples, and group therapy—as well as treatment models appropriate to specialized populations as required. Select appropriate interventions to match clinical needs. Maintain appropriate therapeutic relationships. Manage caseload and schedule to maintain professional standards, quality patient care, and the needs of the Behavioral Health Services Clinic. Be aware of demand for services and manage caseload to meet access requirements. Meet departmental productivity standards. Maintain ethical professional and amiable working relationships with KFHPW staff, demonstrating respect, dependability, flexibility, initiative, and follow‑through. Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team. Utilize all KFHPW online clinical and administrative systems. Stay up‑to‑date with Gender Health treatment options and WPATH standards of care. Basic Qualifications Minimum two (2) years of recent, continuous experience as a psychotherapist. Exemptions may be granted by the Behavioral Health Service Delivery System Chief or designee. Current KP Coalition employees are exempt from this experience requirement. Master’s degree in behavioral science. Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (Washington) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Washington) OR Mental Health Counselor License (Washington). Proficiency in treatment models appropriate to specialized populations. Ability to assess special or high‑risk situations.
