Position Summary
The Job Coach provides individualized employment support to people served by HCAR who are preparing for, obtaining, or maintaining community-integrated employment, paid internships, work experience, or self-employment opportunities. This position supports vocational assessment, job readiness, job search activities, workplace training, job retention, employer communication, and worksite safety. The Job Coach promotes independence, dignity, skill development, and successful employment outcomes while following HCAR policies, funding requirements, documentation standards, and applicable regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned based on program and organizational needs.
· Support individuals in identifying employment interests, vocational strengths, barriers, career goals, and opportunities for job or career advancement.
· Assist individuals with job readiness activities, including resumes, applications, interviews, workplace expectations, and preparation for paid internships or community employment.
· Provide job coaching, skills training, and direct workplace support in community employment, paid internship, self-employment, yard crew, or other assigned work settings.
· Perform job site and task analysis to break work duties into teachable steps and support successful training and job performance.
· Assist individuals in learning job duties, use of tools or equipment, assigned work areas, schedules, transportation expectations, and worksite routines.
· Teach and reinforce appropriate workplace behaviors, including attendance, communication, productivity, safety, professionalism, social skills, and respectful interaction with supervisors and coworkers.
· Identify, support, and communicate workplace accommodations, adaptive strategies, or additional support needs to improve employment success and retention.
· Communicate with employers, worksite supervisors, and support teams to monitor job performance, address concerns, and help resolve workplace barriers or conflicts.
· Assist in developing and implementing plans to fade job coaching support as individuals gain independence and demonstrate worksite skills.
· Support individuals with mobility training, community access, social skills training, and worksite safety instruction.
· Participate in case reviews, goal planning meetings, and employment-related service coordination as needed.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including job coaching notes, progress reports, case file information, worksite records, timesheets, billing-related documentation, and other required records.
· Support assigned yard crew operations when applicable, including worksite preparation, supply and equipment needs, safe material handling, and compliance with safety procedures.
· Assist with transportation or drive company vehicles to transport people served to worksites or community locations when assigned and authorized.
· Maintain required training, transportation documentation, certifications, and clearances, including CPR, First Aid, harassment prevention training, and other agency-required training.
· Follow HCAR policies, confidentiality requirements, participant rights, safety practices, funding requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
· Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed to support program operations and employment services.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not provide direct supervision of employees. The Job Coach may provide direction, coaching, and support to individuals served during job coaching, worksite training, yard crew activities, community employment, and other assigned service activities.

Minimum Requirements
· High school diploma or GED required.
· College-level coursework or education in social services, special education, psychology, rehabilitation, vocational services, human services, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of six months of related experience working with individuals with disabilities, employment services, vocational support, job coaching, human services, or a comparable setting preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
· Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with people served, employers, worksite supervisors, families, support teams, coworkers, community partners, and leadership.
· Ability to read and understand workplace instructions, safety rules, service plans, documentation requirements, and organizational procedures.
· Ability to complete accurate written records, progress notes, reports, timesheets, billing-related documentation, and routine correspondence.
· Ability to use basic math for time, rate, percentage, reporting, billing support, and service documentation needs.
· Ability to apply practical judgment, follow written and verbal instructions, solve routine worksite or service issues, and seek supervisory guidance when needed.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive participant, employment, and service information appropriately.
· Basic computer skills and ability to use standard office equipment and agency documentation systems.
· Ability to successfully complete required background clearance, fingerprinting, TB clearance, physical examination, range of motion screening, and other employment-related screenings.
· Valid California driver license, reliable transportation, proof of automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record required when driving is part of assigned duties.
· Valid CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within required timeline.
· Completion and maintenance of required agency training, including harassment prevention training, orientation, transportation-related training when applicable, and other required training within established timelines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position. The employee may regularly stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers, reach, bend, and use a computer or mobile device. This role may require work in community settings, employment sites, vehicles, offices, outdoor locations, and other service environments. The employee may be required to assist with mobility support, transfers, personal care-related support, adaptive equipment, and worksite activities using proper training and safety procedures. The employee must frequently lift and/or transfer adults and lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
