Battery Engineering Intern (Summer 2026) Department: Avionics Employment Type: Full Time Location: Redondo Beach Compensation: $32.00 / hour Description As a Battery Engineering Intern, you will support the development of lithium‑ion battery packs for use in Impulse’s current and next generation space vehicles. As an intern, you will gain hands‑on experience working with flight electromechanical devices. This role offers exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and the full spacecraft product development life cycle – from design to launch. Responsibilities Support electrical or structural finite element analysis of electromechanical hardware Develop battery test hardware Support qualification testing and pcb bring‑up Support battery assembly Develop new CAD models Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams Minimum Qualifications Recent completion or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field Hands‑on project experience (ie Formula SAE, Design/Build/Fly, Senior Design) CAD experience (MCAD or ECAD) Hands‑on experience with electronics or electrical test equipment Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced team environment Preferred Skills and Experience Experience with building battery packs or electromechanical devices Experience with Siemens NX Experience with ANSYS or Simcenter Experience with Altium Designer Additional Information Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full‑time hires, you may also be eligible for long‑term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
